Laine is from Santiago de Cuba. She is a professionally trained dancer, dance teacher, choreographer, aerobics instructor, and Zumba® teacher. Since 1994, she has been teaching Salsa Cubana and other Caribbean dances in Bremen and Lower Saxony and has been giving classes almost every weekend at various Salsa festivals for years.
At the age of 10, Laine attended the “Escuela de Arte” (school of arts) in Santiago de Cuba. Three years later, she moved to Havana to attend the “Escuela Nacional de Arte (ENA)” (national school of arts) and after two years changed to the “Escuela Nacional de Instuctores de Arte” (national school for art instructors), where she graduated in 1993. Subsequently, she returned to her home city Santiago de Cuba.
After her graduation, she danced for 18 months in the folklore and ballet ensemble of “Oriente” (one of the best ensembles of Latin America). Simultaneously, she became solo dancer at “La Maison” (the most famous fashion house of Cuba) and gave classes at the “Cabaret Tropicana” (the most known cabaret of Latin America).
In 1993, Laine came to Germany, where she danced in various associations in Bremen and its surroundings. In 2003, she established her own dance school: the “Salsa Tanzakademie”.
Since 2002, she has been teaching at festivals and has become a fixed component of the salsa festival scene with her unique, cheerful charisma. “Her” festivals include Unidanza, Festival de Cuba, Rueda Festival Stuttgart, Cubaniando, Guaguanco, and many more.
Furthermore, she began to organise own salsa journeys in 2003. Nowadays, she travels with groups to Groningen, Barcelona, Mallorca, and Cuba several times per year.
Since 2014, she has become the heart of the “Casa Cultural” in Bremen. Here she gives her classes, has parties with her students, and sometimes organises own small festivals for which she invites other amazing teachers.
